What is load?

A load is a fee an investor pays when buying or redeeming shares of a fund. This load may be charged at any time and varies from company to company. Load fees are common and can sometimes be negotiated with a broker or company itself if making a large purchase or sale. Load fees are common and you will notice that funds are titled no-load or front-load fund and so forth to describe this.
