What is layered fees?

Layered fees refers to when an investor is charged two sets of fees for the same set of assets. Layered fees done for wrap funds, variable annunities, and even some mutual funds. Layered fees are not the norm for all investments, only some. These might include a front-end load and some sort of backend payment or management fee.
