What is front-end load?

A front-end load is a charge applied to an investment at the time of purchase. The front-end load is deducted from the total amount of the investment and thus decreases the total shares and size of the investment however a front-end load is required as a commission to the managing companies. The front-end load is the opposite of the back-end load.
